“My favorite tool for generating geometry for building performance simulations.”
Cory Duggin - Principal at TLC Engineering Solutions
“Pollination was the first tool that enabled my team to successfully translate a complete and detailed energy model geometry directly from Revit.”
Allen Mei
Simulation Team Technical Leader at Cyclone Energy Group
“The Pollination Revit plug-in is my favorite tool for generating geometry for building performance simulations.  Not only does it save hours to days of time, but it results in a geometry, with matching room names, that more closely matches what is modeled in Revit.  The ability to simply select shading objects in Revit and export them to IESVE GEM files, allows quick swapping for analysis of multiple shading schemes.  The tool is continuously evolving based on user feedback to save more time with every update.  The Pollination Team is among the fastest to respond to questions or issues, and then fix it in the software."

IES is now an official reseller for the Pollination plugins.

“We're excited to be the formal reseller of the Pollination plugins for Revit & Rhino, giving IESVE users a straightforward way to enhance their BIM-to-BPM workflows. We understand that traditional gbXML data exchange has its limitations. That's why we're backing Pollination alongside our IESVE Software. This practical combination doesn't just promise interoperability - it actually delivers it, helping modelers get real work done without the usual headaches.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does exporting Pollination models to IESVE differ between gbXML and GEM formats?
The GEM file format, being native to IESVE, guarantees a flawless geometry import. In contrast, importing with gbXML carries a risk of inaccurate geometry.

The only current advantage of the gbXML workflow is its ability to include more information beyond the geometry, including constructions and schedules.
Can I import an IESVE GEM file into Pollination to edit geometry?
Yes. Try to export your model as a GEM file, and use the Pollination Rhino plugin to import the model to Rhino.
Is it possible to export the constructions and thermal templates from Pollination to IESVE using the GEM file format?
The GEM file format is limited to geometry data. However, in collaboration with the IES team, we are developing a new workflow using the VE Python SDK to directly load Pollination models into IESVE, which will support the import of thermal zones, constructions, and thermal templates.
